We saw this top Korean girly pop sensations of the moment at a hip hop club that we frequent. Their lyrics are catchy and have the entire peninsula singing "baby one more time". In case you're wondering "is it a Britney rip off?" Nope, it's actually a cover of an "One more time" by Ingrid. Look it up.
Their dance moves are cute, trying to be sexy. The most famous member, Seo In Young's bowl cut 'do has about 50% of the middle school girls copy catting. It's terrible.
We should have been enjoying the music for the hour before they went on stage, but instead everyone in the club was lined up in perfect lines waiting patiently for them to arrive. They took the stage for four songs. That's right, four songs and then they left just as fast as they arrived.
It was fun. Mainly because seeing a pop group like that was something I'd never do back home and it's a part of Korean culture, like it or not. I'm absorbing this part of their culture more than anything else. Am I learning the language? Nope. Can I sing a line in any one of the perfect pop songs? Yes. The kids love it and it kills me.
So here they are at NB...
Sorry for the terrible video quality. My crappy little camera couldn't handle how loud it was and the distance.
Check out all the cell phones recording them. I had to move up and farther away since I couldn't see over the sea of raised arms. You know you're in Korea when...
Here's my paparazzi shot of Seo In Young as she walked past me. I tried to get pictures of the other members, but their security put their hands in front of my shot...meh...In young's the one in the white.
Here's the actual video...
In Young is the one with the shortest hair. Koreans love her. She's also in a reality t.v. show pretending to be married to my fav. Crown J. She's such a whiner. Classic fame-gone-to-the-head-syndrome. (I'll post some episodes from the show in another post).
While we waited for them to come on we got the VIP treatment.
These ajoshis also like to spend their time at this club. I can't figure them out, but the didn't mind taking pictures with us. I wish I you could see their whole outfits. They had it all from the flat rimmed hats to the bling to the super baggy pants.
Here they are dancing on stage...
