V-Line

Korea has many different ideas of what ideal beauty/size/shape/colouring etc is from what I've grown up with. I'm not saying that one view is right or wrong, but sometimes I just shake my head at some things that the buy into.

There are a million and one commercials on how to achieve the perfect body. They range from the S-Line (That is supposed to be what the ideal curves should look like- nice butt and boobs). Or X-Line, which has more of an hourglass figure. Or the "Secret Slimmer", which is sort of a Korean rip off "spanx. They have all sorts of green teas and other random drinks that women should drink as well. Dr. You has also come out with a variety of "healthy" cakes and whatnot.

Here is a current commercial demonstrating how if you drink their green tea your face will be smaller than 12 cm.

They have signs up in restaurants about having "love for women" (meaning they are low fat or good for your body) These signs have been seen in a certain pizza chain and a frozen yogurt estabishment. haha. They believe it...I swear.

Ok, so this all sounds pretty normal, right. I never would have blogged about all of this if it wasn't for this one item.

Teacher's day was this week. The students came into class bearing gifts of flowers, jewelry, love letters and chocolates-all pretty standard. Well one of the Korean teachers received this little plastic wishbone shaped thing with two little wheels on each end. I was shocked to find out that it is to give her face a V-Line shape. There she was rolling it up and down her chin like a good girl working at making her face the perfect shape. I know that she doesn't believe that it will actually work, but there has to be many women out there that do and that is why I'm shaking my head.

( I tried it on my leg. It wasn't big enough....I guess we all have our hang-ups).

Here she is demonstrating how it works:

"It's working...I can tell it's working"

HAHAHA
I love this entry! I also saw the commercial for the small face and DIED laughing when I saw it.

And I've seen those face-slimming items around. It's funny how when you're on the street, people will try to sell them as "face massagi" instead of slimming :P
