In B.C.
I'm on Canadian soil. The jet lag isn't too bad. I force myself to stay up until everyone else goes to sleep. I'm tired, but I don't feel too crazy.
My good-byes were emotional ones. I haven't cried that much in a long time. I know that we all have intentions to see the friends made over 2.5 years and even 2 months. It is possible to stay in touch and meet again. Maybe it will be in South Africa, maybe it will be in Bermuda. It will definitely happen in Canada in a few months! All I know is I left some amazing people who I love and miss already. I can't wait to see the people I've left for a really long time...
I'm staying at my Aunt's near Vancouver. We walked around sea wall of Stanley Park today. It was beautiful and sunny. I forgot how beautiful Canada is. The mountains are snow capped, the water is blue and the people are friendly! I'm going to be taking the Greyhound around BC to visit other family that I haven't seen in years. It's exciting.
The food is expensive, but so delicious! It's wonderful to put different tastes in my mouth. I forgot what it was like to have a huge salad full of fresh, flavourful veggies, cheese other delightful things. Tipping sucks, but restaurants are nice. My aunt's home cooked meals are so welcomed! I missed being around family!
It's strange to understand everything. It's strange to go unnoticed.
I find myself walking closer to the Asians and wanting to hear if they're speaking Korean. I know I'm a little strange when I feel like they're my people, but I kinda do.
I miss Korea, but I'm looking forward to all the things I'm going to get to do since I'm not there.

Welcome home....but it's funny how it feels familiar but not quite comfortable or home, eh?...I remember missing the feeling of being lost (or standing out actually) in a sea of blackhaired strangers who were all speaking a foriegn language that had become so comforting to hear.....I can't wait to see you honey!!!!!
Sarah, we miss you. Glad to read that you're doing well. Life isn't the same over here without you busting out into song and dance in the middle of the street, you know. xoxoxoxoxoxoxo
It'll take time to readjust... even when I went just for 3 weeks I couldn't help but be ethnocentric toward CAnada hahah so weird.
hope to see you soon!
Hi there!
First off, welcome back home to Canada.
Second, I was wondering if you would mind if I added this blog to my blogroll.
I have read a lot of this blog, and I really like it because you posted often and shared about your life in Korea and experience as an ESL teacher. As a future ESL teacher, I think that your blog is really useful when I try to compare Yes Youngdo to other language schools in Asia.
I hope that my blog will become a good resource to other people who are in the similar research language schools stage that I am in. Teaching English abroad is a huge decision in my opinion, but I'm having a hard time finding current information from teachers. That is why your blog has been so useful to me! Thanks for keeping it!
If you have problems against my linking to you, please let me know!
