One Week.

I have one week left before leaving Korea forever.

I'm trying to pack up my apartment. I'm wondering where the heck all of this stuff came from!!! I barely shop in Korea. I only went home once. Some how I have accumulated enough stuff to fill 4 large boxes to ship home so far. (I guess a lot if it is gifts and souvenirs, but still...it's a lot of shiz).

I'm not getting calls from all sorts of people that I've met here (and a lot I haven't seen in ages) all dying to see me before I leave. It's strange...where were you for the months and months that I was here and had spare time!?

Leaving is breaking my heart.

Here are a few things I've been thinking I'm really going to miss:

-my own apartment
-living a 5 min walk from work
-my fantastic students who surprise me everyday
-no tipping
-cheap taxis
-paying less than $2 to ride the bus to Seoul
-7-11s on every corner
-pay as you go cell phone
-cell phone service everywhere
-cheap and super fast internet
-being called pretty on a daily basis
-never being bored
-never having to worry about money
-being able to talk to anyone from my 6 year olds to 40 year olds about anything having to do with the pop culture.
-the freedom
-living close to all my friends
-galbi
-kettles (believe it or not)
-my girls
-Korean guys (maybe this one should be closer to the top of the list. kkkkk)
-Korean pop culture
-cheap glasses
-being able to negotiate the price on just about everything
-being able to get anything from movies to earrings to fresh fruit to incense to hats to waffles on the street.
-neon lights
-music blasting everywhere
-floor heating
-cheap and delicious ice cream
-flavored iced coffee in a cup for a dollar
-I think I'm even going to miss kim chi!

I could go on and on....

Why am I leaving again?

Please be patient with me if it takes me a while to get readjusted to home. I'll do my best.

I still miss most of all....being submersed in a different culture all day, everyday and no matter how much you think you've figured things out ...you are surprised daily....Being down in K-town last week, was like being surrounded in a warm comfortable blanket and hearing the language again was like hearing a old song that you'd forgotten how much you loved....I think that we'll always miss "The Land of the Morning Calm" and "The Cities of Neon Lights"...Korea and all its contrasts....

My poor little lambie :(
Better to have experienced all that you have & to miss it.. than to not have experienced any of it!! (wise mother says) LOL
I remember missing Europe, my experiences & independence... and especially all my new friends from the school in Germany. I know what you're going through to a certain degree.
You have an amazing life ahead of you if the past is any indication!
love ya sweetie,
mom xo

Sarah. We will miss you more than we will ever miss any of those things on that list... combined. Come back soon. Do it for the people. And if not for the people, then at least for the Korean men. We love you. xo xo xo
