2 Years or 7 Years
Today I met a guy in Homeplus who has lived in Korea for 7 years. We chatted amongst all the Peppero (yes it's that time of year again. ick) about different things. The main vibe I got from him was that he really likes Korea, but it's the other foreigners that have made it bad on several occasions. I can relate with that. There have been times here that I thought "if these people hate the way things are done here, why don't they just leave instead of complaining so much!?" So please, if you're living in Korea and you come from a different country, try to embrace the differences. I'm not saying that you have to agree with everything, but at least try to work with it instead of going on and on complaining. No one wants to hear that.
.....
But you know what? In spite of all those bad moments in the two years here, I don't regret anything. I'm not going to go so far to say "in a few years I won't even remember those times". (That's not true at all. I'm going to remember them and learn from them.)Korea will always hold a place in my heart. It's my Asian home! A lot of good stuff has happened here.
I know that I couldn't stay here for quite as long as that guy. I need to either go home and be with my family and friends who I haven't seen nearly enough in the past 3 years or do more traveling. There are still so many places I'm dying to see.

Never say never, eh? I said 6 months or one year maximum...and look how long I stayed....Funny, I been reflecting on similar things since it's almost my half way mark in school....What to do next?....hmmmmm?
How about we run away together to a foriegn land? Oh yah, we already did that.....
Sage advice on embracing differences, be it Korea, Barrie or otherwise.
I've had a very good realizations day.
