Things I've noticed

I want to do my best not to compare Korea and Canada now that I'm home. It's really hard for me not to. I know that a lot of people don't want to hear the good things that another country has that our country doesn't. Or how much I liked something or miss it. But, I think I still should get it out of me just a little bit. This is my blog, so I will say what I want to say. This will be an ongoing thing.

For now, luckily, I've mainly been noticing the good things about my country that I've missed in the past 14 months.

- There have been at least 5 times when someone was clearly in front of me in a line, but they weren't sure who got there first, so they just let me go. (My elbows are slowly starting to come down as I remember that people aren't going to fight me to get in front of me)

- I feel safe being in a cab again. It's expensive, and I have to tip, but at least I don't fear for my life!

- Ok, many people who know me, know that I have a "thing" for Asians. It's even stronger now that I can communicate with them and they don't wear strange things like shiny suits, pink and wear their hair in prettier ways than I do.

-Public bathrooms have toilet paper, hot water, soap AND a hand dryer!

-Public bathrooms DONT have wet floors, spit or cigarrettes everywhere.

- Something about Korea that I really prefer over Canada...the clubs. I never really went dancing in Canada. Needless to say, that's not the case when I'm in Korea. I think it's because it's not so much of a meat market there. People go there to be with their friends and have fun, not simply to hook up with some scantily clad stranger. The Koreans are friendly (maybe it's because I'm a foreigner, or maybe it's because I don't understand what they're really saying about me) But whatever it is, I like it. I don't feel so awkward and judged. The girls often show up in turtleneck sweaters and rarely show their shoulders, nevermind chest. Everyone is just so much cuter and friendlier. Some might disagree, but that's just my feelings about it.

That's all I can think of for now. This can be an ongoing list.

I do love seeing my family again. It's just so wonderful to catch up, to be reminded of what they smell like, to hear their laughter and the way that they tell stories. Just being able to be a part of things again is wonderful.

Your list sure came up short, in my opinion! :P Suwon/Seoul is way too American and you don't miss much being outside canada :P You didn't mention about 30 foods you missed, speaking english, being able to ask for directions in English, Understanding replies, etc etc :P

Yes, my list isn't complete.

Don't give me grief about working in a more westernized area. It's not my fault you chose to live in the middle of nowhere!!!! ^^
