Thailand#3-Bangkok

After 4 days in PhiPhi we flew back to Bangkok. We only had one day, so we knew we could only see a few things before we shopped until we dropped. We shopped for 11 hours straight. We went to a fantastic weekend market and just got lost in the rows and rows of little booth shops. Then we went to a night market. The places were packed, but we found so much great stuff for amazing prices. In Thailand its ok to bargain. We became so good at it, and the more we did it the more it didn't feel awkward or wrong. The big thing there is "bulk-discount" and we shaved off a lot of baht from the price if we bought more than just one thing. Sometimes we even had vendors calling prices after us when we were walking away from something we didn't want to pay that much for. It was fun! At first I felt so weird asking them to give things to me for half the price that they said when it was already so cheap, but thats just the way it is there. I had been told that it costs them next to nothing to make things there and they hike the prices up so much for the foreigners that it makes it alright to bargain them down.

Here is one of the ever-so-famous tuk tuks. (For those who don't know they're basically like taxi's, but cheaper, but the problem is that the drivers often don't drive foreigners where they want to go. They are given gas money from shop owners for bringing people to their places to buy stuff like fake gems etc.)

Our favourite drinks...

This little boy of probably 7 years old was selling glow-in-the-dark souvienirs on the street. Mandie just had to buy from him.
