Meltdown
Today was the first time I've cried since being in Korea. It happened at work too. How embarassing.
My school can be so disorganized. To get the internet to work you have to pretty much perform magic, which I have not yet mastered. There is only one printer, which you of course can only use with one of the computers. You can use one of the Korean staff's computer when its not in use, but one computer for 18 teachers is not enough! (not to mention that when you print from that computer it cuts off half of the image and there is really no point in even trying). They expect us to make our classes interesting and going above and beyond what the text book holds, but we can't just play games. So here we are trying to find something educational, but fun and we can't even get to the information. I was so frusterated and annoyed that I just broke down. This is a business they say. Well if it really was a business than the computers would be working. The thing that ticks everyone off is that the Korean staff is so ho hum about it. They don't do anything to fix the problem ( I don't think they even see it as a problem!)
I was just so mad that I came in an hour early because I knew there would be problems, so it would take longer. I still didn't get my stuff prepped for my class. I was just like "I don't know what to do!" These kids don't talk, so I have to have something for them to read, so at least that will take up some time. I have one senior teacher telling me one thing and another telling the complete opposite. Everyone teaches completely different and I have to find my own style. I understand that but its still frustrating right now.
Jenn took me out for lunch to take my mind off of it. She's been a lifesaver. She's says that I'm now officially a girl in Korea (since I cried)
Report cards are due on Monday and I have a sky high pile of essays that need to be graded. My class on Thursday is an "open class". That means parents come in to observe. Oh joy.
