Sous le Ciel de Paris

It's nearly the end of this year in Paris. I can't explain what has kept me from coming here to lay down my thoughts. I think it must be something in the same family of what keeps me from doing anything artistic lately. It's a block of some sort. It's not something I can explain. It sucks, that's all I know. Anyway, my private journal is still getting used, but I guess that's a different thing all together. Maybe by me saying here that I'm going to make more of an effort to write here I will be held to it. No promises...

Paris in August is said to be "dead". This is when "most Parisians" leave the city for a month long vacation. (Why do they have to leave all at the same time? Wouldn't it make more sense to spread it out?)I don't understand the sense in this, but hey, I'm not Parisian and there are many, MANY things they do that I don't understand. Many people will leave the city for the beaches (of course) and most will head to Corsica. I have never been there, but I hear it's fantastic. Even though I have two months off from work I didn't feel like going all the way to Corsica to chill out with all the Parisians who left the city. No thanks, I think I'll stick with the city I love without the frustration of the people who inhabit it. Luckily, some people will still be here for the month. Not everything will shut down like people have been leading me to believe.

I've resolved to use this alone time to do things that I've neglected throughout the year since I'm distracted by work and doing things with friends. Writing, reading, painting/drawing, sewing, studying French, working on my resume/cover letters, researching schools...

And of course I've got tons of stuff in Paris I still need to check out or visit again before leaving. These include, but are not limited to:

-musee Edith Piaf
-musee Quai Branly
-cine en plein air Parc de la Villette
-terrace de Printemps
-Cafe de Flore
-marche des enfant rouges
-marche des fleurs
-Parc des Buttes Chaumont
-Paris Plages
-Le Murier!
-Chartier
-marche de Port de Vanves...
