Busy bee
These past three weeks have been much busier. Its good, but I need to learn how to use my time more wisely. I guess thats a life time struggle for me. I've been working a lot more (which was what I intended to do here) but since for the first 5 months I had a lot of free time, it can be a little bit of a difficult change.
In other news I had the highest student retention rate of all the teachers this month! haha. I did a victory dance to make the others hate me more. (They really didn't care) I did, however get a homeplus gift card for all my super hard work. [laugh]
Wednesday was "White Day". Its one month after Valentine's Day and this time the guys are supposed to give candy to the girls. There were tables set up everywhere including on the sidewalks for them to buy all sorts of things. I just can't believe how many holidays they have for buying sweets for their special one. One month from White Day is "Black Day". I'm not completely sure, but I think this is when you're supposed to morn and eat some Chinese black bean dish if you didn't get any candy on either day. Ridiculous.
I love my Senior 1 class. The girls always ask me about boys and dating and what I think about that and why I'm not married and if I want to get married and if I like "white or korean men". They say the funniest things and I'm always having to explain to them that what they're saying would mean something different to a native speaker. Now they always ask me "Do you think ________ is man candy?!" Little Damien said "teacher hot!". Of course he just ment that he was hot, but I'm always insisting that they use full sentences, so I made sure to explain that if you say teacher hot, you think that I am good looking. Everyone screamed when I told them that and Damien was super embarassed, but he always be sure to speak in full sentences. Mark ("the pimp"--see previous post) gave me a fake rose attached to a tube filled with candy for White Day. At least I know I won't have to celebrate Black day now....
