My senior 3/4 class was much better today. (This was the same class that I was observed in and they wouldn't say a word) I guess they were all in a good mood or something. We chatted about a lot of different things. They asked me why I came to Korea. I ended up telling them about how difficult it is to get a job as a teacher in Canada (that many people want to become a teacher, but there aren't a lot of jobs.) They were shocked since there are so many teaching jobs in Korea. I told them that we don't have private after school english schools like they do here. It took them a second to understand that everyone already speaks English, so we don't need extra help!
They asked me if I have a tailbone (What am I, an alien?) They come up with the strangest questions.
We talked about other countries we have been to. About half of the class has never been outside of South Korea. I just can't believe it. Its so small and there are so many countries right next door. I guess native asians don't travel the way that westerners do. I didn't think about that point and it kind of spoiled my essay assignment for the day.
They just love Korea. They could talk about it forever. Any time they're not saying anything I bring up something that has to do with their country and they perk right up. They love telling me about all things Korean. They're always asking me if i like or want to go to Japan. I guess as kids they're told not to like it. There are just so many political things that i'm just completely clueless about.

Hey, I can't keep up with all these entries. :P
Do you find it hard to understand the kiddies?
Biggie.
Yes, its so difficult to understand them at times. Sometimes I think they're speaking Korean and I'll go to scold them and the whole class is like "no teacher! English speak!" hahaha.
