Vacation is going well. I've been hanging out on the other side of Suwon with Matt and Mandie. Both yesterday and today we went into Seoul. We went to what we thought was going to be a traditional type concert with dancing and costumes, but were a little disappointed. It was more like pop/ballad-y. Not our thing, so we left.

We ended up in a 50's style diner where we got some milkshakes, fries and the owner of the place gave us free cheese cake and chocolate mouse. (because Emiel had been in there before ) Thats one thing that I've really noticed here. People are pretty generous and so friendly. They're happy to see us and are usually like when we come into their restaurant/shop. I don't find that people stare too much, but do notice when we're around. Little kids seem to smile and point. When I wave they get pretty excited. Today in the subway there was a group of high school girls. I looked over and one was like "you are so gorgeous!" ha. I had heard that that happens pretty often, but usually more towards guys.

In restaurants the waiters are all about serivce. If you signal that you need something they practically run over to your table. They don't mind when you wave at them the same way we do back home. Tiping isn't mandatory, its even considered rude. I guess they think that if you're giving them extra money you think that they need it. Tonight we went to this great Thai restaurant in Itaewon. Our glasses were never empty, they were always smiling and they said thank you to us all the time (not to mention the food was very delicious) Korean food service puts our food service to shame. This experience has really made me understand certian bubble tea shop customers and why they are the way they are.

We're going to a Korean island called Dongdukdo, just off the west coast of Incheon tomorrow for two days. I'm not able to leave Korea right now because I don't have a multi entry visa yet.

Is this blog just a metaphor for your love of bubble tea? Or am I way off here...

Biggie.
