Korean music
Alex inspired me to share some Korean music with my readers.
Korean music is quite hillarious. Most of the time I can't take it seriously, so I don't even try. As far as my knowledge of Korean music goes there are three categories (now I'm sure that there are many more, but these are the 3 that stick out in my mind)
First: Traditional music-This we don't hear all too often. They have some stringed instruments that are usually played on the floor (which I don't know the name of...Alex can you help me out?) They also beat drums and whatnot. I realise that this is a terrible explaination, and for that I'm sorry.
Second: K-pop (Korean-pop) - This is the kind of music that is heard everywhere. They blast it in stores, restaurants, and on the street. This is the way that I usually get to know songs.
Third: Balads. Koreans love their balads. The videos are always ridiculously cheesy and involve lovers that cannot be together either because they never find each other, have miscommunications or their family status is different and they are not allowed to be with each other (think Jin and Sun from Lost)
This video is by Lee Jung Hyun. It's so terrible, it's wonderful. My favourite part is when she makes the cat claws. This would fit into category 2, if you couldn't figure it out.
This video is by Eru. He's a mega Korean sex symbol. haha. I can just feel the sorrow oozing out of his lungs. bah. Another thing about many of their videos is that they do a little talking part before or after and even stop the music to have a little discussion midway through the song. This is definately a balad! My favourite part is when the girl's father's gang beats up her boyfriend because he's not good enough for her and then he sings creepily outside of her window in the rain.
If the first k-pop video wasn't enough for you, here's another one. Don't you just love the English they slip in wherever possible? For some reason its really cool. I prefer the songs that just stick with Korean.
Finally, here is some Super Junior. For some reason they love boy bands with many many members. This one has 12. In case you're unsure, they're ALL male. As I've said before, male femininity is accepted (although most of the time I don't think they even realise that they look like girls). It kills me how they had to prove that they can also rap mid way through, just in case you doubted their talent. My kids are in love with them and always want to write essays and do projects about them.

i saw the one girl, second kpoop vid, she opened for Christina Aguilera. She is a pretty good singer, but it is still pop.
And Super Junior is "Nsync meets My Chemical Romance". All the emo dudes back home would be jealous of that flippy thing they can do with their hair.
HAHAHA, I love your journals toO!! You always inspire ME to do things and especially to take pictures! :) You make me feel normal for giving such a damn about some of my boys hahaha. They're like my own little special acheivements ^_^
